Berenice Scott bewitches with piano-pop single ‘Walls Cave in’

Born in Paris, France but now based in London, Berenice Scott is the talented product of a truly bohemian upbringing. After travelling the world with artistic parents – a French mother and British father – drinking in a host of musical influences to inform her own writing, her chamber-pop songs are a thoughtful mix of wistfulness and a quiet power.

Berenice Scott Torso Shot

A professional session musician specialising in the commercial pop world, her independent, improvisational spirit grew from early days as a pianist. Piano teachers would grow frustrated with her penchant for playing around with structures and learning by ear as opposed to reading music by sight, but in reality Berenice was finding her own way, by feel for the music as opposed to prescribed routes and notes.

With a songwriting style driven by a love of piano, Berenice Scott’s album ‘Polarity’ consistently provides excellent tracks from top to tail, including stunning singles such as ‘Walls Cave In’ – a beautifully building ballad which calls to mind the blended subtleties and pop sensibilities of Sarah McLachlan  and Vanessa Carlton:

The album ‘Polarity’ is a gorgeous collection, created from a range of experiences, lyrically and musically matched to the emotions felt by Berenice Scott throughout her life. It’s a life which has evolved from growing up in a world of artistic genius, her parents counting Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood as their friends and contemporaries and sharing holidays with icons such as Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall.

For fans who really want to get to know Berenice Scott, check out her YouTube channel for an informal video series called ‘The Breakfast Club Sessions’, in which acoustic sessions are captured raw and without the pomp and pressure of the spotlight.

‘Walls Cave In’ will be available on May 25th, followed by album ‘Polarity’ which will be available on June 8th.

Yeti Love want to take you down their ‘Lonely Road’ with new single

Named thanks to enduring love/fear of the vaunted mythical creature, Yeti Love is the musical moniker of songwriters Peter Hamilton and Dave Sears – a folk duo who view the genre as this generation’s punk music, able to articulate about issues and press all the right buttons in all the wrong places.

Hamilton is also influenced by his own ancestry, being half Spanish and, at a young age, falling in love with the folk traditions of home town Galicia. Having started out as a drummer before expanding his own musical horizons, his love of rhythm was informed by this specific branch of celtic roots music. Married to Sears’ intricate, multi-instrumental approach, the result is a hybrid sound unlike any other act on the circuit today.

New single, ‘Lonely Road’, is set for release on June 15th, and you can hear it here:

The pair have labelled their unique combination as ‘alt-rogue-folk-rock’, which is as fitting a description as any. Based in South London, they have been playing together since 2012 and ‘Lonely Road’ is the latest fruit of their labours.

In the years since their foundation, Yeti Love have been slowly building in following an momentum thanks to their thoughtful songwriting and eye catching live show, which has earned them some great online press for their work up until this point. The buzz is building, and in ‘Lonely Road’ they have the right vehicle to continue on that journey.

Rockstar Frame join the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Mafia’ with new album

PRImage

A Milan five piece whose spontaneous approach to songwriting lends their heavy rock style a frenzied energy, Rockstar Frame are a band who are going places.

With a sound which follows naturally on from the likes of Guns ‘n’ Roses and Aerosmith, only with the powerful female vocals of Faith Blurry, they are already turning heads in their home country having won the national ‘Rock the Road Contest’. Competing against 70 hand-picked bands from across the country Rockstar Frame came out on top thanks to their killer songs and great live show.

Rockstar Frame have an origin story like no other. The band was started when founder Max was in a coma after falling from cliff. His family played him rock music while he was unconscious, and he woke with the belief that the music helped to bring him back – inspiring him to write his own.

From there, the band was formed, and has been growing ever since – only set to get even bigger with the arrival of the new album and the help of a growing fanbase.

Their new album, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Mafia’ drops on May 11th, and includes the single ‘She’s Hot’:

That fanbase will, in fact, have the opportunity to pick up a free copy of the new album. The album launch gig – date to be confirmed soon – will see 20 free CDs on offer for the first 20 who come dressed as an old school ‘gangster’ to join the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mafia and get into the spirit of the evening.

The show, like the album, is set to be a blinder. ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Mafia’ is released on May 11th.

Noel & the Pandas ride the 50 shades wave with ‘Whip Me’ single

Alternative rock band from Italy release dirty new track from debut album ‘In the Art of Doom’

With a gritty, dirty groove pushed by chugging drums, distorted power chords and a spoken vocal that suits the style perfectly, it’s the latest addition to what is growing to be a very strong back catalogue.

An indie rock band with an unusually varied style, Noel and Pandas are an Italian group who revel in adding varied ideas and influences to a strong foundation of indie rock. With new album ‘In the Art of Doom’ already getting the band plenty of plaudits, the time has now come for the latest single release, the provocatively titled ‘Whip Me’.

PRimage

Already marked out as the hottest new rock proposition from Italy, Noel and the Pandas continue to go from strength to strength. Produced by guitarist Nicola Rosti and with lyrics from band founder Noel, the debut album is a true labour of love from a songwriter whose outlook on life has changed dramatically in recent years.

His is a story of riches to rags. After a promising career as a banker was ended overnight, he has picked himself back up using nothing but his music and the experiences he has to write about. The power of music to move and transform those who make and hear it is often underestimated, but Noel is living proof that – with enough talent and determination – it’s possible to come back from the brink.

‘Whip Me’ is released on June 1st.

Debut single ‘Sorrow’ set to introduce new artist Adam, Hear The Sea

Based in East London, Adam, Hear the Sea is the new music project and pseudonym for rising singer-songwriter and producer Adam Karayiannis. Of British-Cypriot descent and specialising in the thoughtful end of pop, his influences include the varied likes of Florence and The Machine, Sam Smith, Paloma Faith, Kate Bush, Morissey, Erasure and David Bowie.

0024-2-1-a

Early demos showed great promise, earning excellent support from BBC6 Music and BBC London radio, and now the time has come for the release of his first official single, ‘Sorrow’.

As the name suggests, this is a song about allowing yourself to feel sad sometimes instead of running away from emotions. Adam believes it’s healthier to feel sadness fully and let the wave wash over you until it has passed, as laid out in the uplifting chorus. Far from being downbeat, it’s actually a song about hope, and features a fantastic gospel choir section too:

Trained in acting and performing arts  with renowned The Chicken Shed Theatre Company and with a degree in Music Production, Adam, Hear the Sea is a multi-faceted artist with plenty of strings to his creative bow. Having made credited appearances in huge TV shows, he is hoping that his new music will continue to propel him on his upward career trajectory. And with tracks like ‘Sorrow’ in his locker, it’s hard not to agree.

Sorrow’ will be available from June 15th

John Graham will ‘Roll the Dice’ with new single and album ‘Cold Sun’ this June

not suitable for those with a fear of heights, it blends off kilter performance footage with a montage of adrenaline pumping, high risk stunts. It’s a truly compelling watch married to a fantastic musical groove.

UK born but now US based, John Graham’s new album is set to reach these shores showcasing slick, contemporary indie-rock with electronic touches and a heap of swagger. With influences including the Stone roses, Kasabian, The Cure, Depeche mode and more, it’s an album full of ideas which is primed to make an impact. The album is something of a departure for Graham, whose previous work under the name Quivver has seen him gaining countless plaudits producing house and techno music.

John Graham 2

However, ‘Cold Sun’ and lead single ‘Roll the Dice’ prove that there are multiple strings to this particular bow,  by turning out tunes which are strongly based on the indie rock genre. These hook laden, energetic tracks are then laced with dynamic electronic ideas, ported over from his experience in the EDM genres, to give them extra flavour. It’s not common that indie, rock and electronic ideas are mixed so effectively, with the latter adding superb textures to the former, and it’s certainly one hell of a combination thanks to the subtlety of John Graham’s genre bending.

The ‘Cold Sun’ album has been in the making for many years, being written in snatched time between full time work as a house and techno DJ and producer. It’s release is the culmination of an ambition John Graham has had for many years – to create a collection of songs that don’t fit neatly into a specific genre, and demonstrate just how versatile his writing can be.

Single ‘Roll the Dice’ is out June 1st, to be followed on June 29th by the ‘Cold Sun’ album, both through Distinctive Records.

Aubrey Whitfield ready for new single – ‘Every Cloud’

PRImage

Originally from Merseyside, Aubrey Whitfield moved to London several years ago to fulfil her musical ambitions and hasn’t looked back since. Her vocal, described as ‘like a grittier Annie Lennox’, is one that simply can’t be ignored once heard, and has led to steadily growing success since her move to the capital.

Having signed a publishing contract with Broken Music Publishing/Ripe Recordings in 2012, Aubrey set up her own record label, 2ube Records, in February 2014 in order to release her music, the latest of which is upcoming single ‘Every Cloud’.

The single, originally written when Whitfield was 17, was given a fresh start and new lyrics four months ago following the end of a relationship. It perfectly captures the realisation that, though she believed her girlfriend to be a soul mate, the pair were never meant to be together in the first place. It’s a simple, relatable concept which will resonate with many who have loved and lost, and you can hear it for yourself here;

“There are voices then there are voices. When Aubrey Whitfield draws breath on stage it is to produce notes of such quality that crystal seems like a description for broken glass”. – Wirral News

Recorded at Denmark Street Studios in London, the track was engineered, mixed and mastered by Guy Katsav (The View, Laura Marling, David Guetta). The fact that Aubrey Whitfield is working with such high calibre names is a reflection on her growing reputation in the industry. Just last year, a pop song (‘Fly Like a Ghost’) written and produced by Aubrey herself was released through 2ube Records and went on to secure international airplay on over 80 radio stations worldwide.

For more of Aubrey Whitfield, music fans can get a free download of single ‘Indigo’ if they subscribe to her mailing list at www.aubreywhitfield.com.
