Adam Lanceley helps out Brain and Spine Foundation with new EP

Records always seem to have a much greater impact when they’re devoted to a good cause, just think about the Military Wives for example. But now, singer-songwriter, Adam Lanceley has returned with another one, a new EP that is donating all its proceeds to the Brain And Spine Foundation.

This charity, in particular, is close to Adam’s heart as it is one he has raised money for in the past, running several 10k races and even the London marathon in their name. However, Adam had to come a long way before he reached this point.

As a child, a terrible car crash left Adam with seemingly irreparable damage to his head, and the doctors told his parents that he would never walk or talk again. As you can see, Adam proved them wrong and is now a hugely inspirational musician too.

Music became a form of therapy for Adam and he began to write music during his adolescent years, after picking up the guitar and learning some basic skills. Since then, Adam has produced a stunning back catalogue of 5 full length albums, Back To The Sunshine, the new EP being his sixth record.

The EP continues with Adam’s summery style, employing intricate guitar leads alongside well thought out lyrics where there is much more beneath the surface than originally meets the eye.

Eden Royals explore day to day problems in ‘Time Won’t Wait’

album-artwork

From sharing a stage with Peace and Bastille to touring America with platinum selling Third Eye Blind, indie rock group Eden Royals return with highly anticipated EP ‘Time Won’t Wait’. Exploring the day to day problems of a “getting by lifestyle”, ‘Time Won’t Wait’ speaks out to everyone and anyone.

Eden Royals got their lucky break in the most unique of ways when one of the members answered the door to their neighbour of 16 years, who in fact owns Cutmore Records. After hearing their demos, Eden Royals were signed and haven’t stopped since. The boys performed at Liverpool Sound City Festival in 2015, gaining them the title of Daily Mirror’s top bands at the event.

Time Won’t Wait’ is set to release March 10th alongside the homemade music video, showing Eden Royals touring America.

‘Call Me The Moon’ by Mark L. Oakes

Belgian singer-songwriter, engineer and producer Mark L. Oakes is releasing the ideal soundtrack for what he calls a ‘karmic road trip’ with his debut album Call Me The Moon.

Mark’s home studio, tucked away in the Ardennes, provided the perfect location to record the album, whilst it was mastered in Los Angeles by Grammy award winner, Gavin Lurssen.

Oakes’ influences are clear once you listen to his music and he is keen to show his admiration for the likes of Neil Young, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Tucker Zimmerman and Ryan Adams.

While singles ‘Shredded Jeans’ and ‘Friend From Above (Sleepless Spouse)’ are tinged with soft melancholy, tunes like ‘Aloof Again’ and ‘None Of These Roads’ will lead you straight to a risky, bitter ground. Although Mark’s sound can best be placed in the folk genre, he employs elements of rock too such as the deep and resonant, yet subtle electric guitar on ‘Aloof Again’.

Travelling between Europe and the United States with a bag full of projects, Mark sees ‘Call Me The Moon’ as the silver thread out of the vague existential maze. The album is a must listen for anyone wanting to rediscover their love for quality folk music – a real easy listener!

Matt Boroff’s ‘Grand Delusion’

The music of Matt Boroff takes fans on a musical journey through wind-swept deserts to the edge of the abyss with the help of well-known musicians in his third studio album Grand Delusion. Recorded at 11AD studios, the album features producer and multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes, former Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons and vocalist Mark Lanegan.

With such names backing Boroff’s music, I think it it is safe to say that we can expect big things from the talented songwriter with his latest collection of songs. In addition, over the years, Matt has even shared stages with acts such as Nirvana, Kyuss, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Queens Of The Stone Age.

The album explores the idea of ‘where is love in the new world and does it still have the power to save us from ourselves?’, posing questions, but not necessarily answering them. This way, listeners are provoked into investigating the issue themselves.

In ‘What A Shame’, Boroff’s powerful baritone vocals mix perfectly with screaming guitars, providing progressive alternative sounds that challenge the rock genre. Boroff’s emotive lyrics address themes including nationalism, war-mongering and greed, just to name a few. Quite clearly, Grand Delusion is a rock album on a whole other level.

In 2010, Boroff began working again as a solo artist, releasing two solo LPs, one EP and now Grand Delusion set for release May 5th. Matt will also be performing a headline show in London at the Old Blue Last February 6th.

James Kennedy is Back on the Scene With ‘Home’

Having found success with hardcore-rock band, Kyshera, front-man James Kennedy is continuing his musical journey solo with his change-of-direction album, Home.

James has a number of accolades to his career, having performed to many sold out crowds and even supporting fellow Welsh giants, The Stereophonics. However, after a long time spent touring, the glitz and glamour began to wear off and James unfortunately struggled with depression.

Despite this, his hardships inspired him to get back on the musical bandwagon and write his own album. James wrote, recorded and mastered the album within just a few months, showing how the process was a form of therapeutic catharsis for the singer songwriter. The melodic, emotional, but catchy sound of the album expresses his experience during the past few years of constant touring.

An entirely self-taught musician, James picked up a number of instruments at a young age including guitar, piano and bass, even though his formative years were made difficult due to three major surgeries to resolve hearing problems. As James grew, along with his talents, he went on to attend the Welsh College of Music and Drama where he used his skills in the field of music production to later form his own label, Konic Records.

Kennedy’s soulful rock style is sure to be a hit with a multitude of music fans and if you need one more reason to check him out, he was voted 32nd sexiest man in Wales. What more could you need?

Home is out 31st March – find out more on James here:

Alternative rock group Screams On Sunday release ‘The Night’ early January

screamsonsundays_03lowres

Alternative female fronted rock group Screams On Sunday (SOS) blend melodic guitar solos with rock rhythms to create their upcoming single ‘The Night.’ The Spanish band that came together via the internet, discuss the idea of today’s generation being obsessed with creating an online persona, lacking real life relations. The meaningful lyrics sung in a rough but sweet manner brings something else to their music.

Although they didn’t know each other before forming the band, SOS came together via the internet and now cannot go a day apart. They soon released their debut EP ‘Call Reality A Lie’, leading to them gaining a large following and becoming known for their live performances that were considered “pure dynamite”. The newness of the sound and the changes of melody and rhythm throughout the songs make the band’s music inventive and unique.

‘The Night’ was recorded at Sound-Hub in Belper and mastered at Metropolis Studios in London. SOS find themselves improvising as it creates a more honest raw sound, meaning the production process perfects that improvised sound but still portraying what is inside.

From supporting Scouting For Girls to working with Razorlight, Big Lenny Bunn returns with cover ‘Blueberry Hill’

From sharing a stage with Razorlight, Noah And The Whale and Feeder, to supporting Scouting For Girls and Wilkinson, Big Lenny Bunn has dedicated his life to the industry. Returning with a classic cover of ‘Blueberry Hill’, Lenny has collaborated with major musicians to create a track in dedication to his adopted father who sadly passed away last year.

‘Blueberry Hill’ was Lenny’s adopted father Lyddon Thompson’s favourite track. Being Jamaican, Thompson opened Lenny’s eyes to another way of life and thinking, inspiring his music massively. The loss of Thompson made Lenny want to record ‘Blueberry Hill’, whereby each instrument is recorded in different studios around the world. Collated at Lenny’s studio, mixed with the help of Martin Smith and mastered by Jon Astley, the single according to Lenny is “more beautiful than ever imagined”.

The popular rock ‘n’ roll cover features talented musician Ibo from the Jamaican reggae band Third World and singer-songwriter Melissa James.
