Homerik… more like HOMEROCK!

It’s not every day a band writes about Ancient Egyption curses is it? Well prepare yourself for ‘Homerik’ and their debut self titled album.

The New York trio; Ken Candelas (The Mad Composer), Andrew Petriske (The Daemon), and Obed Gonzalez (The Gatherer) have spent the last three years bringing together their love of video game, film music and dark mythology with their love of bone shattering metal, to push the genre to a new dimension…. And though a strange mix, you know what? Homerik have pulled together one of the most ambitious and most creative albums you are likely to hear this year!

The lead track A Song of the Night Part 1 (A full 7 minutes 15 seconds of melodic metal creativity) tells you everything you need to know about the band. It leads you in to a false sense of security, which builds through 3 minutes of spooky yet etherial female vocals and orchestral music, curtesy of Carla Candelas & Nilsa Astacio. Just as you think you’ve settled into the song it blasts you into a tribal/ metal/ medieval mishmash.

My personal highlight of the album The Ire of Green brings together Irish style folk with fiddle and tin whistle mixed effortlessly with sharp, stabbing guitar chords, reminiscent of a heavier, darker Gogol Bordello.

Truly some of the most creative music you will ever hear, definitely worth your time. Think, System of a Down have gone back in time, stollen some ancient Egyptian scrolls and to the depths of hell – travelled around the world and now are writing songs about what they’ve seen.

A Song of the Night Part 1 is available on Spotify now https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Ry0Y2JiVXjpidTHDpYVQx.
You can Stream and Download the rest of their self titled album when released on Halloween.

Punk Band Healthy Junkies Set To Release Dynamic New Single And Album

Healthy Junkies are an antidote to a generation that’s numbed by televised talent shows by reviving the punk ethos of a time when Johnny Rotten walked down Kings Road with safety pins in his ear.

Their attitude and musical purity have earned them respect from some of their heroes such as Knox of The Vibrators, Charlie Harper of the UK Subs or Strokes producer Gordon Raphael with whom they have collaborated in the past. Describing the upcoming album ‘Box Of Chaos’, out on 20th February 2016, in their own words as a “journey which starts with a party that quickly turns to anger and dysfunction”, it is a punk statement that celebrates the values of liberty and standing up for yourself, especially in the wake of the recent terror attacks in Paris and the often imprisoning nature of a modern capitalist society. Their single ‘Watch Out’, out on 15th December 2015, paints a picture of our time in which public surveillance and dependence on technology have taken over our lives.

Formed in 2010 by UK born guitarist and singer Phil Honey-Jones and French singer Nina Courson, Healthy Junkies have established themselves in the punk scene after playing with bands such as The Damned, The Boomtown Rats, UK Subs, Walter Lure (former Heartbreakers), The Vibrators or TV Smith of The Adverts, to name a few. Over the last four years they were regular acts at Rebellion punk festival in Blackpool and have been played on various radio stations, such as TBFM which voted one of the songs on the album, ‘Danny Trash’, to number one a few weeks ago. Songwriters Nina and Phil are taking inspiration for their lyrics from everyday life, including the struggles that arise when a crazy rock’n’roll lifestyle gets to the point of mental instability and destructive behaviour. Channelling such impulses through creativity and making music is what the band uses as therapy.

Nina and Phil home 3

Healthy Junkies’ music thrives from a mixture of often distressing life experiences and musical proficiency. Lyricist Nina has been forced to live under harsh conditions from an early age after she left home at the age of 14 and ended up living with a Muslim transvestite in Paris’ red light district Montmartre, eventually falling into the abyss of drug consumption in the realm of shady characters. Meeting Phil in 2008 has turned her life around and she started focussing her energy on creating music. As a band they have also started promoting their own regular club night called Punk’n’Roll Rendevouz at a venue in Camden which has been going for over three years now. It has been a meeting place for the UK’s underground scene ever since.

Phil started to play cello at the age of six before he moved onto guitar and discovered punk rock. His previous band Nurotica has been acknowledged by influential DJs ranging from John Peel to Rodney Bingenheimer. Personal experiences play an important part of the Healthy Junkies’ songs. The new album is especially a diary of the last two years on the road – some of the tracks were literally made up on stage. It is a document of emotional stories as well as an observation of the times we live in wrapped up in a dynamic rock’n’roll sound that touches upon influences from bands such as Nirvana, The Sex Pistols, Blondie or Elastica.

The single ‘Watch Out’ is out on 15th December 2015, the album ‘Box Of Chaos’ is out on 20th February 2016.

Yeti Love want to take you down their ‘Lonely Road’ with new single

Named thanks to enduring love/fear of the vaunted mythical creature, Yeti Love is the musical moniker of songwriters Peter Hamilton and Dave Sears – a folk duo who view the genre as this generation’s punk music, able to articulate about issues and press all the right buttons in all the wrong places.

Hamilton is also influenced by his own ancestry, being half Spanish and, at a young age, falling in love with the folk traditions of home town Galicia. Having started out as a drummer before expanding his own musical horizons, his love of rhythm was informed by this specific branch of celtic roots music. Married to Sears’ intricate, multi-instrumental approach, the result is a hybrid sound unlike any other act on the circuit today.

New single, ‘Lonely Road’, is set for release on June 15th, and you can hear it here:

The pair have labelled their unique combination as ‘alt-rogue-folk-rock’, which is as fitting a description as any. Based in South London, they have been playing together since 2012 and ‘Lonely Road’ is the latest fruit of their labours.

In the years since their foundation, Yeti Love have been slowly building in following an momentum thanks to their thoughtful songwriting and eye catching live show, which has earned them some great online press for their work up until this point. The buzz is building, and in ‘Lonely Road’ they have the right vehicle to continue on that journey.

Bree – I’m the Boss

BREE A 24 YEAR OLD RELIGIOUS CULT CASTAWAY WHO DISCOVERED THE TRUTH THE FIRST TIME SHE PLUGGED HER GIBSON INTO A CRANKED UP VINTAGE MARSHALL AMP. INFLUENCES RANGE FROM BUDDY HOLLY AND PATSY CLINE TO THE WHO AND THE RAMONES

Nashville rocker bree is releasing a new single/video for “I’m The Boss” in the UK this summer -Watch Now HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-IECVvwyfQ.

The song blends hard driving American rock ‘n roll with bree’s relentless sexuality and aggressiveness. The video was directed by Casey Culver and filmed at the 19th century Joy Mansion in East Nashville, TN. “I’m The Boss” is the first UK single release from bree’s debut album, All American Girl, released this past summer on Werewolf Tunes.

Buy now on the iTunes Store: http://e2.ma/click/nu48e/zf9zji/rprahb.

The 11 track album was recorded in Nashville and produced by Justin Cortelyou – longtime engineer for iconic producer Bob Ezrin.

The album was released to rave reviews with Artist Direct declaring, “This fiery Nashville-based redhead seduces with her sultry and soulful voice and slings a Gibson Flying V with no inhibitions and a whole lot of incendiary talent” and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel adding that bree, “takes in decades of influences and spits the out in raw, dark, tones.”

All American Girl was also just selected as one of the Top 11 albums of the year by Legendary Rock Interviews Magazine.

bree has lived in Nashville since 2011 and after a year of tireless gigging and hard work, she was recognized with the prestigious honor of RAW Nashville “Musician of the Year,” solidifying her status as the city’s rock ‘n’ roll bombshell. In 2012 bree was introduced to legendary producer Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper, KISS, Pink Floyd) and his engineer Justin Cortelyou (Taylor Swift, KISS, Ke$ha, Alice Cooper).

Recorded in Nashville, All American Girl, injects seductive sexy soul into swaggering rock ‘n’ roll. Backed by drummer David Castello and upright bassist Mayrk McNeely, the singer and guitarist has found a style of her own. She describes it best, “My personal kick ass slice of the rock-n-roll pie. Funny thing is that I don’t think many people today really know what 21st century rock-n-roll is about. They think it’s some 1950’s retro thing.

Which I certainly am not – even with an upright bassist in the band. When I walk on stage with my Gibson Flying V and plug into a Marshall they start to get the picture.” That energy comes through loud and clear with the raw and rousing songs on bree’s All American Girl. With explosive power chords, unshakable hooks, and liberated lyrics, the album unleashes a refreshing turn from a young free-spirited female rocker.
