Adam Lanceley helps out Brain and Spine Foundation with new EP

Records always seem to have a much greater impact when they’re devoted to a good cause, just think about the Military Wives for example. But now, singer-songwriter, Adam Lanceley has returned with another one, a new EP that is donating all its proceeds to the Brain And Spine Foundation.

This charity, in particular, is close to Adam’s heart as it is one he has raised money for in the past, running several 10k races and even the London marathon in their name. However, Adam had to come a long way before he reached this point.

As a child, a terrible car crash left Adam with seemingly irreparable damage to his head, and the doctors told his parents that he would never walk or talk again. As you can see, Adam proved them wrong and is now a hugely inspirational musician too.

Music became a form of therapy for Adam and he began to write music during his adolescent years, after picking up the guitar and learning some basic skills. Since then, Adam has produced a stunning back catalogue of 5 full length albums, Back To The Sunshine, the new EP being his sixth record.

The EP continues with Adam’s summery style, employing intricate guitar leads alongside well thought out lyrics where there is much more beneath the surface than originally meets the eye.

Suit of Lights’ the genre defying band

Having dedicated his life to music since an early age, Joe Darone, pursued a career as a drummer and then in 2003 he decided to focus on songwriting allowing for Suit of Lights to be born.

“Even the greatest musical elitists will find something to love on this album”- RAG Magazine

Pushing the boundaries of modern music, “Break Open the Head” has the energy of punk, the immediacy of pop, the innovation of progressive rock and the timeless beauty of “serious” composers. This makes the band, and their music, distinct and innovative whilst cutting edge and acknowledging of songwriting tradition. Ultimately the band is fearless when it comes to creating music.

Electro London Records releases exciting new VINYL album, ‘SYNTH WAVE – Volume 1’

‘Synth Wave Volume 1’ is the flagship VINYL compilation album of some of the world’s freshest innovative electronic music. Electro, synth pop, electro pop, darkwave… collectively we call it Synth Wave.

‘Synth Wave Volume 1’ challenges the apathetic and predictable current popular music scene and features an array of artists who are regularly championed by the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, and Radio X.

Synth Wave is not just a genre, it’s a culture, an attitude, a state of mind. This is not just a compilation album, more a reflection of a world-wide music phenomenon that is happening now in cities around the world… with artists from Argentina, France, Canada, UK, Sweden, Ireland and Brazil. Exciting, acclaimed artists with new songs, inspired by their electronic peers, with synthesizers, emotion, style and attitude…

‘Synth Wave Volume 1’ has been collated by the team behind the popular Electro London Festival (headlined by ex-Kraftwerk Wolfgang Flür), Analogue Nights and Synthetic City music events: Johnny Normal and Rob Green (The Department) are Electro London Records.**

Listen to a snapshot of the entire ‘Synth Wave Volume 1’ album, followed by the 12 tracks in full. CLICK HERE

Tracklisting:

  1. Promenade Cinema – As The World Stops Revolving
  2. Massive Ego – Low Life
  3. Cosaquitos En Globo – Fantasy
  4. The Department – Glass Houses
  5. Johnny Normal – Talk To Me
  6. Tiny Magnetic Pets – We Shine

  9. The Stir Fry Pop Star – Pray Now

As Rob Green states: ‘Synth music has crept from the shadows (where it has been hiding since the mid-eighties) and is infiltrating even mainstream music these days. The majority of bands in the charts once again have a synthesizer. Synthwave takes it further, continuing the impact made by the early electronic pioneers (Kraftwerk, Human League, Soft Cell, Numan, Ultravox, Visage, John Foxx, with those incredible synthesized machine sounds fused to emotional, anthemic and impactful songs.

**Rob Green performs with The Department, was signed to Feargal Sharkey’s label and has remixed for artists as revered as Robbie Williams and William Orbit… Johnny Normal meanwhile performs with his post-punk electronic rock-pop group, and has toured with the likes of Adam Ant and Blancmange. (he’s also a Swine Flu survivor – surviving a 7 month battle with the disease back in 2014!). Johnny hosts a regular radio show promoting independent synth music.

Review: Nigel Thomas releases dazzling indie rock album ‘Travelling Man’

Nigel Thomas - Travelling Man front cover

Former frontman of The Foxes Nigel Thomas, releases this dazzling indie rock album, lyrically recounting his life’s journey (hence the brilliant title ‘Travelling Man’).

Sporting a beautifully gliding voice reminiscent of Paul McCartney and some creative and heart-warming chord progressions, the sound is very Beatle-esque. However, the singer-songwriter makes sure to add his own individual eccentricities along the way. There are harps on the hypnotic track ‘Dancing’ and even some harmonica on the title track ‘Travelling Man’. Tracks like ‘Ghosthunter’ meanwhile display a charming sense of humour.

Anyone looking for an engaging guitar record should look no further than this LP. Check out the freaky video to ‘Fever’ below.

Dave Fidler New EP – ‘Easy Gone, Easy Come’ Out 1st June

Based in the North West, Dave Fidler is a supremely talented acoustic guitarist, whose folk style and intricate finger picking underneath a distinct vocal has the ability to warm and break your heart in equal measure. His songs spin tales we can all relate to, around themes of love, loss and birth – all themes shaped by Fidler’s own personal life over the last year or so.

Influenced by greats like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, this is an artist with incredible potential with songs like EP track ‘Easy Gone, Easy Come’, which you can find here:

Produced by Sam Jones (Alex Turner, Corinne Bailey Rae) and John Bramwell of I Am Kloot, the EP is just the latest step in what is shaping up to be a very promising music career.

Easy Gone, Easy Come Final

The past twelve months for Dave have been a whirlwind of recording sessions and great shows including Glastonbury Festival, Manchester’s Whisky Sessions festival and a forty date tour of the UK as main tour support to John Bramwell who describes Fidler as “absolutely brilliant”. He has also been featured several times by key tastemaker Tom Robinson of BBC Radio 6 Music.

Music is clearly a true passion for the singer-songwriter, who also runs a music school and charity alongside touring. It’s all very impressive work, and with a barge tour of the UK in the works as well as a potential prisons tour at the end of the year, it’s clear to see that Dave is approaching things in a different way.

If you’re still not convinced, we challenge you to watch his recent session for cult YouTube Channel ‘Ont’ Sofa’ without being supremely impressed:
